Prayer for Haiti
Father God,You are our strong tower. You are our firm foundation. Father, we feel so helpless and so insufficient in the face of epic catastrophe. Even our best efforts at aid fall so short. But you, oh God, are neither helpless nor insufficient. No. Father, you alone are almighty, all powerful, and always present. So we cry out to you on behalf of our brothers and sisters, our mothers and fathers, and our children in Haiti whose world has collapsed. We are your Church in Miami. We are your hands and your body. Make ways for us to reach out to those in need. We are so close to Haiti and yet we know how distant we are. We are too far to push away the rubble. We are too far to clean the wounds. We are too far to cradle the children. But you are close. With broken hearts and anxious spirits we fall before you and lift our families and neighbors to you. We lift up your body of believers in Haiti. We pray that YOU will rise in the midst of the devastation. Unleash your redemptive and healing Spirit across that broken nation. Pour out your Spirit on your body of believers in Haiti. Empower Your people in Haiti. Fill them with healing. Fill them with strength. Fill them with wisdom. Fill them with the hope that can only come from you. Give them power and protection beyond themselves so they might be ministers in the chaos. Even in this tragedy we pray that you would be glorified. Bring the full impact of your glory into this destruction. May the nation of Haiti be restored and her people know you. May Haiti be so filled with your Spirit and so transformed that it become a light among nations. How great you are, God, that through you nations are restored and transformed. And Father, even as we pray with broken hearts for Haiti remind us, your Church in Miami, how many people there are within our reach everyday who may feel as though their lives have collapsed. Let us not fail to touch them in Christ so they might know your peace, healing, and redemptive love.Amen and Amen
